How is Diablo 2: Resurrected different from the original?
Diablo 2 is a cult favorite with its diverse character classes and limitless replay value, and people still play it today. However, it had been 20 years since Diablo 2 was launched, and a remaster was long overdue. But how would Diablo 2: Resurrected be different from the original?
Diablo 2: Resurrected is essentially the same game that was released over two decades ago. It offers better graphics and makes inventory management a little easier. Since the basic game engine is identical, you can manually import previous Diablo 2 saves into the Resurrected edition and take up where you left off in 2000.
The announcement of the game’s release has brought a lot of excitement for players who are anticipating the release of a game that many consider being the best dungeon-crawler ever made. The hype surrounding this game is at an all-time high, and going over this list of changes made to the original game only adds to the excitement among gamers who are looking forward to the modernization of an icon.
Improved Battlefield
Diablo 2’s multiplayer was fantastic and some players consider it so good that it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it was quite ahead of its time. The fact that the Battle.net servers for the original Diablo 2 are still active, with a decent number of players playing it, is the best confirmation of that.
That being said, the original Battle.net had its fair share of flaws, which are only worsened by the age of the multiplayer servers. The addition of Battle.net 2.0 capability to Diablo 2: Resurrected will make sure that the game’s most engaging mode runs without a hitch, allowing a whole new generation of gamers to enjoy it.
Cross-Progression
One of the most significant differences in Diablo 2: Resurrected is that it will be available on consoles from the start. That means a slew of console gamers will be introduced to what many consider to be the best ARPG of all time.
Along with the fact that Resurrected will be released on consoles, the game will feature cross-platform progression. Players can conveniently store their progress on their chosen device, making Diablo 2 more accessible.
Introducing 3D Graphics
On this list, this is arguably the most noticeable change. Diablo 2: Resurrected will feature 3D graphics, as one would expect from a full remake. Although, Diablo 2 has aged well in comparison to other games launched in the year 2000, the improved graphics in Resurrected are certainly appreciated. Many players have long wanted to try D2 but have been put off by the outdated graphics. Irrespective of the quality of the graphics, the new format will surely let the players enjoy the game for what it is: a splendid, timeless ARPG.
Options for UI Accessibility
Following the Diablo 2: Resurrected closed alpha tests, one of the most common pieces of feedback Blizzard received from fans was that the user interface was not very player-friendly.
To respond to these concerns, Blizzard has stated that the UI will be configurable, including the ability to change the HUD visibility, toggle item names and comparisons on and off, and move the Automap around.
No more compatibility problems
Diablo 2 can certainly be appreciated and enjoyed in 2021 without having to get used to any outmoded mechanics that could have appeared as it was launched two decades old. While players are not required to jump through hoops to enjoy the game, their operating systems and modern PC setups are different things altogether.
Diablo 2 requires a lot of patching and fiddling with settings to run on Windows 10, and even that doesn’t necessarily ensure that the game will run.
Resurrected offers much-needed relief in this regard, allowing anyone to download and play Blizzard’s timeless masterpiece in just a few clicks.
